Spurs start Jonathan Simmons over Kawhi Leonard for Game 2

Curry was six-for-nine shooting on three-pointers to lead seven Warriors in double figures. At his most spectacular moments - including a brief flurry in the third quarter - Curry dribbles around opponents like traffic cones and drains threes like lay-ups.

"It could have gone either way".

Acting Warriors coach Mike Brown wants no part of that conversation right now and he understands better than most the challenge ahead this weekend. I don't think they started with a belief, and it showed in the lack of edge, intensity, grunts, all that sort of thing.

Warriors reserve Patrick McCaw took advantage of 27 minutes of playing time to chip in with 18 points. He scored 12 points in the fourth quarter.

"He was wonderful", Curry said. "Obviously, we wouldn't call it smooth sailing at all". He came back two nights later and played 28 minutes and scored 10 points in the Pistons' 108-105 loss. Aldridge was 0 for 2 with two turnovers in the first quarter and knows he has to be more aggressive when the two teams meet for Game 3 in San Antonio on Saturday. It was a drastic difference from a game of catch-up two days earlier when the Warriors rallied from 25 down and a 20-point halftime deficit. His old coach, Gregg Popovich, believes West has found a flawless fit in the Bay Area alongside Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and the others, as hard as it is for Pop to see him in another uniform.

The Spurs started the second half with much better energy and focus and began to slice into the lead, despite still having trouble hitting shots. The rest of the Spurs combined to shoot 29 of 83 (34.9 percent). That would be the same margin at the end of the third quarter, which came to a close with the Warriors leading 106-75. We have a lot of guys on the floor who really like to cut and move without the ball so David has fit in beautifully with the way we like to play anyway. "It's going to be hard fought". He had 19 points and made four 3-point shots. There is no easing into any game down there because they're already a risky team, especially being down 0-2 and getting Kawhi back.

"Patty Mills is tough to chase around and Klay is trying to chase him and get help from his teammates, but that's work". Pachulia played just seven minutes of Game 2 before departing the game with a right heel contusion.

As for Pachulia, this has cause such a media fallout that there are calls for the National Basketball Association to address this type of manoeuvre as it has happened many times before, and Popovich certainly has a point when he says intent shouldn't come into it. "That's when we struggled". He finished the game with a measly eight points on 4-for-11 shooting. It was also mentioned that Pachulia stepped on Leonard's ankle, which put him on ice. The game came and went almost too quickly for the human eye, and the rest of the night was just a matter of waiting for the Inevitable Express to pull into the station.

"And that was the message to the team afterward, too, going into Game 3". The problems with ankle injuries is that they nag and they're easy to re-aggravate.

"ZaZa is not a dirty player", Durant said.

Van Gundy: People are listening to you begging for brownies, and now they responded. We're not that type of team. "Like, if you have injuries to your hips, your quads, your hamstrings or your knees or your Achilles or feet, it just hampers your ability to not only do the rehab but to keep your conditioning up". But under Kerr's system, these sins of aggression are nearly always forgiven - a tolerated by-product of pushing to control the game's tone and tempo.
